CASE STUDY

Making Recall look as good as it sounds (thanks to James McAvoy)

CLIENT

Narrated by James McAvoy, and ideal for fans of Stephen King and John Marrs, Recall by J.D. Kirk follows Daniel Henderson, who is left fighting for his life after a brain injury.

As he recovers, things don’t quite return to normal. Daniel starts experiencing unsettling visions — memories that don’t belong to him. Before long, he’s drawn into a series of murders that seem to have been circling his life for years. The deeper he goes, the more his sense of reality begins to slip.

For the cover, we focused on themes of identity and self-reflection. Using mirrors and motion blur, we created something that feels slightly off and disorienting — echoing Daniel’s experience. Everything was shot in-camera, without relying on post-production, to keep the visuals feeling natural and grounded.

Working with James McAvoy helped bring the right tone to the shoot — something subtle but uneasy.
